The cricketers of the national team participating in the ICC World Test Championship can make some records in the 2-match Test series against Bangladesh.
The first Test match of the home series against Bangladesh will start from August 21 in Rawalpindi, while the second Test will be played on August 30 at the National Stadium in Karachi.
During the series, fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi can become the first Pakistani bowler to take 100 wickets in the World Test Championship, he is currently among the elite bowlers with 91 wickets in 24 Test matches.
In the WTC cycle, 11 bowlers have crossed the mark of 100 wickets so far, in which 3 of India – Ravi Ashwin 174, Jasprit Bumrah 110 and Ravindra Jadeja are present with 102 wickets while 4 Australian bowlers have also accomplished this feat. Among them, Nathan Lyon 187, Pete Cummins 175, Mitchell Starc 147 and Josh Hazlewood are included in the list with 109 wickets.
After Shaheen, Naseem Shah, who has taken 51 wickets for Pakistan in the World Test Championship, played his last match against Sri Lanka in July 2023 due to injury.
On the other hand, captain Shan Masood and vice-captain Saud Shakeel also have a chance to reach 1000 runs in the WTC cycle. Shan Masood has scored 985 runs in 18 matches while Saud Shakeel has scored 967 runs in 10 Test matches.
