Instagram: Photo-sharing platform Instagram has announced new safety features to protect people from sextortion (extortion of money by blackmailing sexual/indecent images or videos) and to protect youth on the platform.
According to Meta’s subsidiary, the company is using technology to identify signs of fraudulent accounts and make it harder for them to connect with young users.
After the new safety tools, users won’t be able to take a screenshot directly on their device or screen record videos sent in messages (which is a trick for fraudsters).
Instagram said that sextortion fraudsters often choose their targets for blackmail from their following and list of followers. But now the accounts that are found to be fake will not see this list and this facility will be taken away from them.
