Washington: SpaceX has signed an agreement with NASA to launch the International Space Station (ISS) from orbit.
According to media reports, NASA and SpaceX have signed an agreement under which SpaceX will develop a special space vehicle capable of launching the International Space Station from orbit.
NASA announced and developed a contract for the deorbit vehicle in September 2023. The decision to push the station out of orbit came after NASA and ISS stakeholders agreed on the end of the station’s in-orbit period.
It should also be noted that the mass of the ISS is so large that if it were to break up, its debris could cause significant damage to Earth, which is why NASA has developed a special vehicle to ensure Wants to get the job done right the first time.
The contract between NASA and SpaceX states that the total potential value of the single-award contract is $843 million. It does not include the cost of launching the vehicle into space.
