Islamabad: Pakistan has become the world’s third largest exporter with a 366% increase in sesame seed exports facilitated by SIFC.
Annual exports of sesame seeds have crossed $1 billion, due to which Pakistan’s agricultural sector is becoming stronger. The increase in sesame seed exports helps stabilize Pakistan’s economy and reduce imports.
Along with this, sesame seed production has reached 1.119 million tons annually with an increase of 455%.
Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain says that sesame seed production has given a new momentum to Pakistan’s economy.
Improvement in sesame processing technologies is expected to further increase the quality of the product.
The Ministry of Commerce played an active role in promoting Pakistani sesame seeds globally with the support of SIFC. The government is committed to further increasing sesame production and market access.
