Before the start of the T20 series against Pakistan, Cricket Australia appointed Josh Ingles as the captain of the white ball team in place of Pat Cummins.
Australia’s wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Ingles will be the captain of the white-ball team for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Pakistan, while interestingly, he will lead the team in the final ODI as well.
Several Australian senior players Marence Labuchin, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood will miss the final match of the ongoing ODI series against Pakistan as they have to take part in the Border Gavaskar Trophy against India.
With the unavailability of vice-captain Mitchell Marsh and the participation of Pat Cummins in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, Josh Ingles has been appointed as the captain of the white-ball team, who has experience of taking on leadership roles in domestic cricket.
The head of the selection committee, George Bailey, while announcing the name of the captain, said that Josh Ingles is an integral member of the ODI and T20 squads, he has experience of captaining domestically including Australia A.
However, due to the absence of senior players, fast bowlers Xavier Bartlett and Spencer Johnson have been included in the team along with wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Phillip.
