The Lahore High Court, while hearing the various petitions filed against the implementation of Section 144 in Punjab, issued notices to the provincial government and sought their response.
Justice Shakeel Ahmed heard the petition of citizen Najiullah.
The citizen took the position that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced the rally in Islamabad, the illegal implementation of Article 144 by the government.
According to the petitioner, the fundamental rights of the citizens are being affected by Section 144, requested that the Lahore High Court suspends the notification of implementation of Section 144.
It should be noted that on August 21, the Punjab government imposed a ban on processions, rallies, sit-ins and protests across Punjab by imposing Section 144 for three days.
The Punjab Home Department has issued a notification for the implementation of Section 144 across the province for 3 days.
Section 144 was imposed for the establishment of law and order in the province, protection of human lives and property, which will be applicable from Thursday, August 22 to Saturday, August 24.
