In a monumental step towards digital empowerment of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Software Technology Park (STP) in Bagh was inaugurated today by Lieutenant General Syed Imdad Hussain Shah (Commander 30 Corps) accompanied by Major General Umar Ahmad Shah, Director General Special Communications Organization (SCO) along with prominent civil and military officials.
This is Sixth STP established in AJ&K, following successful facilities in Mirpur, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Bhimber and Kotli, reinforcing the region’s shift towards digital inclusivity. Earlier, Major General Umar Ahmad Shah, HI(M), Director General SCO inaugurated a new Freelancing Hub in Palandri. This addition brings the total to twelve free lancing hubs in AJ&K. These hubs aim to develop IT skills of youth through connections and collaborations with major and district-level IT centers/ STPs. Lieutenant General Syed Imdad Hussain Shah, Commander 30 Corps lauded SCO’s role in digitizing AJ&K and Gilgit-Baltistan, praising their efforts to extend technological literacy and infrastructure to far-flung regions. He noted that initiatives such as STPs and Freelancing Hubs are revolutionizing region and integrating youth into broader digital economy, thereby ensuring a brighter future.
During inauguration, Major General Umar Ahmad Shah highlighted SCO’s strategic mission to transform Azad Kashmir with advanced technological infrastructure. He emphasized on empowering youth in remote areas with digital skills for self-reliance and global competitiveness. He stressed that transformation is not just about infrastructure but skill development and creating job opportunities for youth to shape their own future. AJ&K’s transformation into a digital hub is nearing reality, promising a bright future for it’s youth. SCO’s mission to modernize region is fostering innovation and global engagement from even the remotest areas.
