The Lahore High Court sent the case file of the petition filed against the blocking of internet and installation of firewall across the country to the Acting Chief Justice.
Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal heard the petition filed against the shutdown of internet and installation of firewall across the country.
The court noted that similar cases are being heard by Justice Shakeel Ahmed, this case should also be presented for hearing before Justice Shakeel Ahmed.

The petitioner had taken the stand that the internet and social media apps have been shut down in the country without any notice or reason, the business and even every sphere of life is being affected due to the shutdown of the internet.
The petition further states that shutting down the internet is also a violation of fundamental rights, it is requested that the federal government’s decision to shut down the internet should be annulled and orders should be issued for full and immediate restoration of the internet.
It should be noted that in another petition related to internet shutdown in the Lahore High Court on August 21, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had admitted the slow internet across the country and said that it was due to the failure of the submarine cable and India’s cyber attacks. On this occasion, the lawyer of PTA said that there are four reasons for the decrease in the speed of the Internet, one of which is that the speed of the Internet decreased due to the cutting of the submarine cable in the sea.
In this regard, it was said that due to improper training of an Internet company, the speed decreased and strict action was taken against the concerned Internet company and the employees were suspended.
He said that there was a cyber attack on India’s Independence Day on August 15, which slowed down the internet, while the speed of the internet was also affected due to excessive use of VPN.
In Lahore High Court, PTA, Federal Government and Ministry of Information submitted a response but the court rejected the response of the lawyer of the federal government, the court re-filed the petitioner by modifying the application and submitted the response at the next hearing. The hearing was adjourned till August 27.
