Mumbai: Members of Bharatiya Kisan Union tried to burn effigies of Bollywood actress and BJP politician Kangana Ranaut over her statement against farmers.
According to Indian media, the policemen in Hapur city of UP took away Kangana Ranaut’s statue from the farmers, after which the police and the protestors started fighting.
As a result of this clash, there was chaos on the road and traffic jam on the Delhi-Lucknow road.
Farmer leaders started a dharna demanding the return of the effigy and said that the protest would continue until the effigy was returned.
Bharatiya Kisan Union spokesperson Harish Hoon has called Kangana Ranaut’s statements against farmers as shameful and demanded to register a case against her.
