Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman once again called for fresh elections and declared the current assembly illegal.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman while addressing the party workers in Khushab stressed the need for fresh elections and said that the country is being managed in a wrong way.
He reiterated the stand of JUI(F) being a part of the opposition and said that we will continue to play our role in the opposition.
He emphasized that the party had participated in the recent constitutional amendment debate as an important stakeholder along with other opposition parties.
On the recent change of command in the Supreme Court, the JUI(F) chief hoped for ‘improvement’ under Chief Justice Yahya Afridi.
However, he refrained from commenting on the tenure of former Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, saying that since he has completed his term, there is no point in further comments.
Earlier, while talking to the media in Sargodha, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the decision of the Federal Sharia Court regarding the implementation of interest-free economy is final and the country will positively shift towards this system by 2028.
Responding to a question about jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, he said it would be premature to say anything about any possible talks or meeting.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman also appreciated the recent meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization and called it a positive step from the economic point of view. He urged all political parties to unite to improve the economy.
Asked about the government’s possible plans for a new constitutional amendment, the JUI(F) chief said he was not aware of any such developments.
He made it clear that his party would oppose any attempt to incorporate the text of the 26th Amendment into future legislation.
