NEW DELHI: A wedding procession from Jaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan to a village in Mirzapur for a wedding turned into a controversy after an unexpected incident.
The wedding ceremony turned into a commotion when the groom refused to marry on seeing the bride.
A Chhatriya family from Jaipur led the procession with a band and a bajaj and reached the bride’s house in Rajgarh area of Mirzapur. The groom and his family happily attended the ceremony after completing the wedding preparations.
However, some time before the wedding, the groom developed suspicions about the bride’s family, which deepened with time. When the wedding ceremony began, the groom flatly refused to marry after seeing the bride’s appearance.
This matter led to a dispute between the wedding procession and the bride’s family, after which the local police had to intervene. The police took both parties to the police station.
The police, after questioning both families, sent the groom and his family back to Jaipur.
The incident caused great disappointment and conflict for both families. The bride’s family said the move was unnecessary and a threat to their honour, while the groom’s family refused to comment on the incident.
The incident became another example of the unusual disputes that occur during weddings, which attracted considerable local attention.
