Scientists have recently discovered a vast ocean hidden beneath the Earth’s crust that holds much more water than Earth’s reservoirs.
According to the report, this reservoir of water is located 400 miles below the surface of the earth in a rock called “ringwoodite”.
Researchers discovered an unusual sponge-like reservoir of water within the mantle rock. However, this water is neither solid, liquid, nor gas, but exists in a new fourth state called plasma.
Geologist Steve Jackson said that ringwoodite is a sponge-like layer that holds water. There is something special about ringwoodite’s crystal structure that allows it to attract hydrogen and trap water.
