Islamabad: The government has claimed a reduction in the weekly inflation rate, while the prices of 14 essential items have increased further during the week.
According to the Federal Bureau of Statistics, the trend of decreasing inflation rate in the country has continued for the fourth consecutive week. In the recent week, the inflation rate in the country has decreased from 1.16 percent to its lowest level of 0.52 percent.
According to official data, the weekly inflation rate has decreased by 0.77 percent, while the annual inflation rate has also decreased to 0.52 percent.
According to the report, during the recent week, the prices of 12 essential items became cheaper and 14 increased, while the prices of 25 essential items remained stable.
During the past week, tomatoes have become cheaper by 33 percent, eggs by 10.23 percent, onions by 10 percent, potatoes by 7.37 percent, lentils by 1.61 percent and chicken by one percent. Similarly, a slight decrease was recorded in the prices of dal mash, jaggery and LPG.
In contrast, sugar, bananas, garlic, rice, ghee, lentils, moong and wood have become expensive in a week.
The statistics show that during the past week, the rate of increase in inflation for the class with an income of up to Rs 17,732 per month was 0.52 percent with a decrease of 1.04 percent, while for the class with an income of Rs 17,733 to Rs 22,888 per month, the rate of increase in inflation was 0.52 percent with a decrease of 0.97 percent.
Similarly, the inflation rate for the group with an income of Rs. 22,889 to Rs. 29,517 per month decreased by 0.83 percent to 0.45 percent, while for the group with an income of Rs. 29,518 to Rs. 44,175 per month, the inflation rate was 0.48 percent with a decrease of 0.80 percent, while for the group with an income of more than Rs. 44,176 per month, the inflation rate was 1.03 percent with a decrease of 0.70 percent.
