Islamabad: The government has claimed a decrease in the inflation rate, while the prices of 13 essential items have increased during the same period.
According to the report of the Federal Bureau of Statistics, there has been a slight decrease in the inflation rate in the country on a weekly basis, according to which the inflation rate has decreased by 0.21 percent in a week, while the annual inflation rate was 1.02 percent.
According to the data given in the weekly report, the prices of 13 essential items increased last week, the prices of 16 essential items decreased and the prices of 22 remained stable.
According to the report, the price of bananas increased by Rs 4.35 per dozen. Similarly, diesel became more expensive by Rs 6.99 per liter during the last week. The price of sugar per kg increased by Rs 2.68, the price of garlic increased by Rs 3 per kg, while salt, petrol, cigarettes, cloth, dry milk and firewood are also among the items that have become more expensive.
The price of tomato per kg decreased by Rs 7.94 last week. The price of potato per kg decreased by Rs 4.39 during the week. The price of onion decreased by Rs 5.19 per kg. Broiler chicken meat became cheaper by Rs 17.57 per kg, the price of gram gram decreased by Rs 5.93 and the price of dal mash decreased by Rs 3.2, while rice, mustard oil and flour are also among the items that have become cheaper.
