Technology giant Google has finally unveiled its secret artificial intelligence tool to the world. The tool can take control of the browser like a user to navigate the web.
Project Mariner (formerly known as Project Jarvis within the company) could be the biggest update to web browsing in its 34-year history.
The update could be part of the tech giant’s mission to create a universal AI assistant that can help users with everyday tasks.
Project Mariner (which is still in its early stages) has been introduced as an experimental extension to the Google Chrome web browser. The tool uses the company’s Gemini AI to understand the information on the user’s screen to perform desired tasks.
By analyzing pixels, images, text and web forms, the AI tool is capable of performing tasks by typing or clicking in the desired places.
The tool is currently available to a few testers, and Google admits that the current version of the tool is slower than humans and not reliable.
