The Golden Globes, the world’s leading showbiz awards, has announced that it will stop paying its voting members $75,000 annually.
A Golden Globes spokesperson called the decision an attempt to stop allegations of bias in voting.
Previously, Golden Globes voting members were paid an annual salary who participated in the selection of awards for films and television shows.
However, in 2021, the Golden Globes faced criticism after the HFPA scandal and its broadcast process was also affected.
Golden Globes President Helen Hohne informed the 50 affected members of the change. The Golden Globes voting body now consists of 300 members, including entertainment journalists from 85 countries.
According to the new Golden Globes policy, voting members will no longer be paid, like other well-known award shows such as the Oscars and Grammys.
