San Francisco: Elon Musk, the owner of social networking platform X (formerly Twitter), has announced the closure of the company’s San Francisco-based headquarters.
Elon Musk said he had no choice but to close the office the company had been using for more than 10 years.
As part of the company’s restructuring, Elon Musk plans to make the platform an ‘everything app’ that will help users send and receive money.
In a post on X, he said it’s impossible to work in San Francisco if you want to send or receive money. Hence Stripe, Block (Cash App) and others had to leave.
Elon Musk’s reference in the post is apparently to California’s economic laws. However, according to Stripe, the company left in 2019 due to lack of office space in San Francisco.
X Chief Executive Linda Yiccarino said in an email to staff that these offices will be closed in the next few weeks.
