ISLAMABAD: In the meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the National Assembly, the Ministry of Economic Affairs identified several problems in the way of timely completion of foreign-funded mega development projects.
According to the details, a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee of the National Assembly was held under the chairmanship of Atif Khan. In the meeting, Secretary Economic Affairs Division (EAD) Kazim Khan said that the main reason for the delay in the purchase of land for projects is the concerns of the local people. ,Procurement, delay in funding and security issues also hamper the timely completion of projects.
The land for Dasu Dam was not available for ten years and was acquired after a lot of effort.
Secretary Economic Affairs Division said that in the last two years there has been an improvement in the release of funds for foreign funded projects, protection of rupees for foreign funded positions, adequate rupee cover is needed to ensure effective utilization of foreign funds.
