Karachi: Sindh Interior Minister Zia ul Hassan Linjar has said that Dr. Shah Nawaz was killed in a fake police encounter in Umarkot. The officials involved in the competition have been suspended.
Sindh Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Linjar, while holding a press conference, said that the help of CCTV was taken to investigate the incident in Umarkot. An FIR will be registered against whoever the victims find responsible.
He said that the officials were suspended after the allegation was proved true in the investigation. And it was a fake police encounter. Police personnel in Umarkot were accused of fake police encounter. An investigation committee was formed on the instructions of the Chief Minister of Sindh.
Zia-ul-Hasan Linjar said that the family of the deceased has freedom. That they can file a First Information Report (FIR) against those responsible. An FIR will be registered against those responsible.
He said that the investigation committee held Mirpurkhas police and CIA Mirpurkhas responsible for the incident. And FIR will be registered against all. If the victim’s family does not file an FIR, the state will file a case.
The Sindh Home Minister said that according to the investigation, the police had a fake police encounter in Umarkot. It is our responsibility to protect people’s lives and property. And 6 FIRs registered will be investigated.
He said that the new DIG of Mirpur Khas will investigate these FIRs as the chairman of the committee. It is still under investigation whether Dr. Shahnawaz was the accused or the culprit and it will be decided after the forensics of his mobile phone from Punjab.
It should be remembered that Dr. Shah Nawaz Kanbhar, who belongs to Umarkot, was allegedly extrajudicially killed by the police in Mirpurkhas.
