COMSATS University Moot Frontiers in Information Technology concludes in Islamabad

The 22nd International Conference on Frontiers of Information Technology (FIT 2025), a flagship conference of the COMSATS University Islamabad concluded at COMSTECH Secretariat

ISLAMABAD – The 22nd International Conference on Frontiers of Information Technology (FIT 2025), a flagship conference of the COMSATS University Islamabad concluded at COMSTECH Secretariat on Monday. The two-day event is Pakistan’s premier ICT research forum brought together researchers and technology experts to discuss advances in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and Internet of Things applications under the theme Digital transformation and Innovation.

FIT 2025 received 627 research submissions from 32 countries which is the highest number of research submission in the 2 decades history of the event. Following peer review, 99 papers were accepted and presented across eleven technical tracks and nineteen sessions rendering a 15% acceptance.Addressing the closing ceremony, Additional Secretary Rizwan Ahmed Sheikh on behalf of Ministry of Science and Technology commended COMSATS University for hosting the conference, describing FIT as one of Pakistan’s most respected ICT forums of the country.

The Additional Secretary while speaking on behalf of the Minister emphasized strengthening linkages between research, industry, and public policy, that would ensure that academic findings translate into real startups, patents, and solutions having a socio-economic impact.Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar, Rector CUI while addressing the closing ceremony called on experts to take advantage of research in Quantum Technologies to disrupt and innovate.

He said that COMSATS University Islamabad, will be the first university in Pakistan to prepare its students for Industry 5.0 through the 6C toolkit imparted to the graduates of all disciplines. According to this framework, each student will carry working knowledge of Coding, Cybersecurity, Cloud, Co-intelligence as well as incorporate creativity and communication skills in their coursework. Prof. Qamar called for a need to invest in Startups and university Spin-offs in order to support the knowledge economy and opportunities that emerge with it. Mr. Chen Peng, Cultural Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy and the Chief Guest Ms. Zhan Hongyan, Vice CEO of Huawei Pakistan also spoke at the occasion and lauded the efforts of organizers.

They called for using technology to build bridges between China and Pakistan. Prof. Dr. Shahid Khattak, Dean Faculty of Engineering presented the Vote of Thanks and Prof. Dr. Sohail Asghar presented the Conference Report. Prof. Dr. Majid Iqbal, Program Chair FIT thanked the invited Speakers for sharing their research and adding value to the proceedings.

Prof. Dr. Manzoor Ilahi Tammimy, Technical Program Chair of FIT expressed special gratitude to IEEE, National Testing Service (NTS) and COMSTECH Secretariat for sponsoring the event.Earlier Prof. Shoab A. Khan, Chancellor Sir Syed CASE Institute of Technology, delivered a Keynote address on “AI to Agentic AI – How to Be Future Ready,” and Prof. Chris Nugen of Ulster University, Ireland, delivered an invited keynote on AI-enabled IoT solutions in healthcare to set the tone of the conference.

Experts from the United States, United Kingdom, China, Japan, Ireland, France, Hong Kong, and Australia participated in the FIT’25, with sessions covering 6G networks, smart cities, AI-driven healthcare, and sustainable computing. FIT 2025 is the epitome of academia-industry collaboration and has powerfully reaffirmed Pakistan’s growing, significant role in contributing to and advancing global digital transformation and innovation on the international stage. The conference concluded with the presentation of best paper awards recognizing outstanding research contributions.
