Male pattern baldness, also known as androgenetic alopecia, is a gradual loss of hair in men. It is the most common cause of hair loss and is caused by genetic and hormonal factors.
The main cause of male pattern baldness is thought to be genetics and a combination of hormones, especially dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
DHT is a hormone produced from testosterone. It binds to the receptors inside the hair.
In genetically predisposed individuals, DHT can cause shrinkage of the hair, causing it to weaken and eventually lead to thinning and hair loss.
Although genetics plays an important role, there are many other factors that can affect male pattern baldness, some of these factors are as follows;
1) Medicines
2) Hormonal imbalance
3) Age
4) Malnutrition
5) Stress
6) Medical conditions
7) Scalp infections
8) Smoking
9) Hair styles and hair treatments
