California: Users are furious after yet another change made to video streaming platform YouTube.
Google, the company that owns the platform, has started showing ads when the video is paused. This new format of advertising is only offered on TV but it is enough to attract consumers.
This latest change was preceded by YouTube cracking down on users downloading ad blockers.
When the video is stopped i.e. paused, after its minimization, ads will be displayed in the right side of the screen i.e. ‘ad corner’. Information and a Dismiss button will appear with promotional graphics.
Users who don’t want to be bothered by ads during a video can purchase the YouTube Premium service starting at $14.
A user on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) said he was going to bring a computer so he could get an ad blocker. Platform ads are getting ridiculous.
Another user said that the situation will get worse instead of better.
