Federal Minister of Interior and Anti-Narcotics gave in-principle approval to conduct National Drug Survey in the country after 11 years.
A meeting of the Committee for National Drug Survey was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister Interior and Anti-Narcotics Mohsin Naqvi, in which the Federal Secretary Interior, Secretary Planning, Additional Secretary Finance, Special Secretary Health, DGANF and Chief Statistion participated.
On this occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that the National Drug Survey should be comprehensive and authentic in every case, accurate data of the survey is of real importance and it will be beneficial. He directed to collect data from educational institutions, slums and other places in addition to homes in the survey.
The interior minister said that only through an authentic and comprehensive survey, full and detailed decision-making in the field of anti-narcotics will be possible, there will be no compromise on anti-narcotics because it is the problem of the nation’s future. He has directed to finalize the matters related to the survey within 15 days.
Mohsin Naqvi said that ANF and Pakistan Bureau of Statistics should jointly work out the methodology, nature of data required, sample format and timeline for conducting the survey. International development organizations should also be contacted for cooperation in conducting the survey. It should be noted that the last National Drug Survey in the country was conducted in 2013.
