Texas: A new study has revealed that exercising in a natural environment may be more beneficial than exercising indoors.
According to research published in the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine, American researchers in their recent study discovered greater benefits of exercising in a natural environment outside the home. However, he also noted that access to natural areas can vary widely because not everyone has the opportunity to exercise outdoors.
Lead researcher and director of the Texas A&M University Center for Health and Nature, Jay Maddock, said the research demonstrates that the natural environment can be an effective place to promote physical activity. People generally enjoy nature more in parks and gardens etc.
He added that exercise in such an environment can help prevent chronic problems such as heart disease, diabetes, certain cancers and bone disease, while strengthening the immune system, improving mood, reducing the sensation of pain. And it can also cause aging.
