19 people, including 18 attackers, were killed in an attack by armed men on the presidential palace in the North African country of Chad on Wednesday.
According to a foreign news agency, an attempt was made to attack the presidential complex in the capital N’Djamena. Eyewitnesses heard gunfire and tanks were also seen on the streets.
According to Chadian security sources, at around 7:45 pm local time, armed men attempted to attack the presidential palace, but security forces took immediate action and thwarted the attack.
Chadian government sources have also confirmed that 18 attackers and a security officer were killed and 6 were injured in the retaliation for the attempted attack on the presidential palace.
Chadian authorities say that the armed men tried to enter the presidential complex, but the situation is now under control and the plot to destabilize the country has been thwarted.
