Sana’a: Yemen’s Houthi rebels have claimed to have shot down an American drone.
The Houthis have also released a video of the downing of the US MQ9 drone, the video shows something burning in the air and its debris falling to the ground.
Yemen’s Houthi rebels say they have shot down another US-made MQ-9 Reaper drone flying over northern Yemen.
In a statement, Yahya Sari, the group’s military spokesman, said the US drone was intercepted by the group’s air defenses while it was flying over Saada province.
Sari said the group has shot down 11 US drones since launching its military operations in support of Gaza, which has been under Israeli attacks since last October.
The US military has not yet commented on the Houthi group’s announcement.
He added that on Sunday, Israel carried out 17 airstrikes against civilian facilities in Hodeidah province of western Yemen in support of the United States.
