Sharjah: Australia defeated India in the Women’s T20 World Cup match to reach the semi-finals.
Australia won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 151 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Australia’s Grace Harris was the top scorer with 40 runs while Talia McGrath and Alice Perry scored 32 and 32 runs respectively.
Chasing the target of 152 runs, the Indian women’s team managed to score 142 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur remained unbeaten with 54 runs while Dipiti Sharma was dismissed with 29 runs.
In Group A, Australia won all four matches and reached the semi-finals with 8 points. While the second team going to the semi-finals from the same group will be decided by the match between Pakistan and New Zealand on Monday.
India is second with 4 points, New Zealand is third with 4 points and Pakistan is fourth with 2 points.
It should be noted that Pakistan will have to win their last match against New Zealand to join the race for the semi-finals. However, if New Zealand defeats Pakistan, they will reach the semi-finals.
In case of victory of Pakistan against New Zealand, the points of India, New Zealand and Pakistan will be 4 and 4 respectively. The team whose run rate will be better will qualify in the semi-finals.
