Gaza: A new video of Dr. Hossam Abu Safia, head of Kamal Adwan Hospital, has surfaced, in which he can be seen shackled and handcuffed in Israeli custody.
On December 28, the Israeli army raided Kamal Adwan Hospital and arrested more than 350 people, including Dr. Abu Safia. He was later transferred to Ofer Prison in the occupied West Bank, where he is being held without trial.
In the video, which was broadcast on Israeli media, the Palestinian doctor can be seen in handcuffs and shackles, while Israeli soldiers are taking him out of his prison cell.
In the video, Dr. Abu Safia told an Israeli journalist that he did not know what charges were against him and why he was arrested.
He rejected the Israeli allegations, saying that Kamal Adwan Hospital only treated ordinary Palestinian citizens, not protesters.
Dr. Abu Safia’s son, in a statement on social media, said that it was unbearable to see his father in chains, and steps were needed for his immediate release. The family alleged that Dr. Abu Safia was being subjected to torture and inhumane treatment in prison.
It should be noted that Dr. Hossam Abu Safia’s young son Ibrahim was martyred in an Israeli bombing in October last year.
