Lahore: Due to US sanctions, mismanagement and growing population, Iran is caught in economic problems, especially 60 million Iranians out of a population of 90 million are unable to buy basic necessities of life, which has increased chaos and unrest in Iranian society.
To provide relief to the people, the government has started a new financial scheme, 60 million people will receive coupons worth 5 million rials per person per month so that they can buy flour, lentils, vegetables, sugar, milk, eggs, and oil from designated stores.
The amount may seem high, but it is very small in Pakistani rupees and dollars. Experts say that this step is not enough, as the Iranian government has increased the rate of many taxes. It now wants to meet 75 percent of its expenses with tax money.
But this process will further increase inflation in Iran. Taxes on imports can increase the prices of many common goods and put them out of reach of Iranians who eat and drink. Iran’s economy has reached the ICU and needs fresh oxygen.
