US President Donald Trump has fired the highest-ranking military officer, General Charles C.Q. Brown.
Donald Trump announced the firing of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and said he would also make changes to five top military positions.
President Trump said in a post on the social media platform Truth Social that he was nominating retired Lieutenant General Dan Razin-Kain to replace C.Q. Brown as the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Dan Razin-Kain is a former F-16 pilot and was most recently serving as the associate director for military affairs at the CIA.
According to the US Department of Defense, President Trump will also fire Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Lisa Franchetti, the Air Force Vice Chief of Staff, and the advocate generals of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. In addition, the Trump administration has also decided to make 5,000 layoffs in the Department of Defense.
