ASHGABAT: Turkmenistan Airlines has announced the cancellation of all regular flights from the capital Ashgabat to Moscow from December 30, 2024 to January 31, 2025.
According to a foreign news agency report, Turkmenistan Airlines said in a statement that passengers have been informed that the amount of tickets purchased for the period will be refunded without deduction.
The report said that there was no explanation regarding the cancellation of regular flights to Moscow, but flights were suspended earlier in August 2023.
Turkmenistan Airlines suspended flights in August 2023 due to safety concerns in the airspace, and at that time the Russian Ministry of Defense said that a drone attack had been carried out by Ukraine on the Moscow region.
Despite the cancellation of Turkmenistan Airlines flights, S7 flights to Moscow will continue.
It should be noted that the announcement of the cancellation of flights from Ashgabat to Moscow came at a time when an Azerbaijani passenger plane crashed in the Aktau region of Kazakhstan a few days ago, killing 32 people.
Azerbaijani airlines have also canceled their flights to several cities in Russia.
On the other hand, Kazakhstan’s Kazakh Air has also suspended flights from Astana to Yekaterinburg for a month from February 28, 2024 to January 27, 2025, due to security concerns.
