Islamabad: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Pakistan on a two-day visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The Turkish President’s plane landed at Nur Khan Airbase where President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers and other officials were present to welcome him.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan was given a warm red carpet welcome at the airport and then a guard of honor was presented to him.
Upon President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s arrival, a 21-gun salute was fired in his honor, while school children dressed in traditional attire welcomed him. The military band also welcomed him in a traditional manner.
After entering Pakistani airspace, JF-17 aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force gave him an aerial welcome and his plane was brought to Islamabad in a convoy.
According to the announcement, during the visit, the Turkish President will meet his Pakistani counterpart and the Prime Minister.
He will attend the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council and Pakistan-Turkey Business Forum in Islamabad.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, along with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, will address the Pakistan-Turkey Business and Investment Forum, which will be attended by leading investors, companies and businessmen from both sides.
The High Level Strategic Cooperation Council is the highest decision-making forum, which provides strategic direction to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
There are several joint standing committees under the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council, including trade, investment, banking, finance, culture, tourism, energy, defense, agriculture, transport, communication, IT, health, science and technology and education. Six meetings of the HLSCC have been held so far.
In addition, the Turkish President will also attend the signing ceremony of MoUs and agreements between Pakistan and Turkey in various sectors.
His visit is being considered very important. Tayyip Erdogan is accompanied by ministers, high-ranking Turkish officials, and investors.
