According to a foreign news agency, Trump said in his interview that he sent the letter on Thursday and expressed hope that Iran would be willing to negotiate. He added that if the negotiations fail, military action could be an alternative, but he prefers a diplomatic solution.
According to foreign media, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has said that as long as the US’s “maximum pressure” policy continues, there is no possibility of direct negotiations between Iran and the US on the nuclear issue.
It should be noted that President Trump withdrew from the international nuclear deal with Iran in 2018 during his first term in office, which the Biden administration made desperate efforts to restore.
However, the lack of trust between the two countries and the presence of sanctions are hindering negotiations.
