US President Donald Trump has suspended the decision to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico for a month, but it remains in effect for China.
According to foreign media, President Trump has suspended the decision to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico for 30 days. The United States has given this concession to neighboring countries as a countermeasure to measures to tighten security in border areas and prevent smuggling.
On the other hand, no decision has been made regarding tariffs for China. China may face a 10 percent tariff in the next few hours. According to the White House, President Donald Trump will not speak to Chinese President Xi Jinping until the end of this week.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum say that they have agreed to increase border security at President Trump’s request to prevent the influx of immigrants and smuggling. After this agreement, tariffs of up to 25 percent will be suspended on both countries. The tariffs were to be in effect for 30 days from today.
US President Donald Trump said in a statement on social media that “as President, it is my responsibility to ensure the safety of all Americans and that is all I am doing. I am pleased with this initial result.”
