President-elect Donald Trump has announced that he has named his campaign spokeswoman Caroline Levitt as White House press secretary.
At 27, Caroline Levitt will be the youngest White House press secretary in American history. Levitt, a New Hampshire native, graduated from St. Anselm College, a Catholic college in her home state, with a degree in communications and political science.
The president-elect said in a statement that he is confident that Caroline Levitt will excel and help deliver our message to the American people.
Donald Trump said that Caroline has proven to be a smart and highly effective communicator. Together, we will make America great again.
Caroline Levitt worked as an assistant press secretary in the White House during Donald Trump’s first term, shortly after graduating in 2019.
After leaving the White House, Levitt served as communications director for Elise Stefanik, a senior Republican congresswoman who President-elect Trump has nominated to serve as ambassador to the United Nations.
Ron Ziegler was the youngest White House press secretary in U.S. history, serving at age 29, having been appointed by former President Richard Nixon in 1969.
The public will soon see Levitt in the White House briefing room, where tense exchanges between reporters and U.S. officials have occurred countless times during Trump’s first term. Trump has had several press secretaries during his first four years in office, including Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Stephanie Grisham and Kayleigh McEnany.
