Washington: Former US President Donald Trump has called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a dictator, further deepening the rift between the two leaders.
Trump responded to Zelensky’s statement on US-Russia talks in Saudi Arabia, criticizing that Zelensky is refusing to hold elections and that his government has violated agreements.
Trump said in a post on the social networking website Truth that Zelensky’s country has been destroyed and he is responsible for the deaths of millions of people. He said that the US is now successfully negotiating with Russia to end the war.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Swedish Prime Minister Alf Kristersen called Trump’s criticism ridiculous on this statement, while British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer expressed support for Zelensky and stressed the need to suspend elections during the war.
