Washington: US President Donald Trump’s administration has taken an unprecedented step to order the removal of four media outlets, including the New York Times, from their offices at the Pentagon.
Under the decision, National Public Radio, Comcast Corporation-owned NBC News and Politico will also have to vacate the Pentagon building by February 14.
The move was announced in a memo that said that the New York Post, One America News Network, Breitbart News Network and HuffPost News will be given designated offices in their place.
According to the memo, a different media outlet will be given a designated office space as a member of the Pentagon Press Corps each year so that they can have the opportunity to report there.
The decision came after the New York Times published an open letter in which the newspaper promised that its reporting would be based on honesty. The New York Times had published several headlines in its reporting that gave the impression that President-elect Trump was failing to transfer power.
