Washington: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky left the White House at the request of the White House after a heated exchange between US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
According to a foreign news agency, during a meeting at the White House on Friday, President Trump and Vice President Vance spoke to the Ukrainian president in a harsh tone.
Vice President JD Vance asked Zelensky why he had not yet thanked President Trump. Trump added that Zelensky is not in a position to give orders to the United States and should avoid talking too much.
Trump accused Zelensky of preventing a ceasefire and risking World War III. He added that if he had been president, the Russia-Ukraine war would never have started. Trump described the trilateral talks as “difficult” and said that it would not be an easy matter.
After this heated conversation, the joint press conference of the two presidents and the signing ceremony of the mineral resources agreement were canceled.
According to foreign media reports, after the US president’s rebuke, Ukrainian President Zelensky was asked to leave the White House, after which he left. Donald Trump has said that Zelensky can return when he is ready for peace.
This incident is a unique event in world diplomatic history where the president of one country has faced such harsh behavior from the president of another country.
