London: Britain has transferred more than 5 thousand Afghan citizens to Britain through a secret operation called “Operation Lazorte”.
According to Arab media, the secret mission, which began in October last year, involved moving ex-military personnel, intelligence assets and their families out of Afghanistan and offering them accommodation in military locations across the UK.
Among those expelled from Afghanistan are 150 Afghans who worked directly for the intelligence services.
The British newspaper said a source said that the former Conservative government had expressed a desire to reduce the number of immigrants.
About 4,000 of those who moved to Britain were stuck in hotels in Pakistan paid for by London.
While 1,000 people had to travel to Pakistan on passports issued by the Taliban immediately after the operation began.
Many people who arrived in the UK were forced to flee their homeland due to threats from the Taliban.
They join around 27,000 Afghans who have already been brought to the UK since the Taliban takeover in August 2021.
Sources say security checks are being done before offering accommodation to the displaced and 700 houses have been allotted so far.
