Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that thanks to the recent visits by the Russian top leadership, further strengthening and stability in the relations between Pakistan and Russia is welcome.
The Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly Valentina Matveyanko met Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif along with a delegation in Islamabad.
The Prime Minister welcomed the visit of the Russian delegation to Pakistan and termed it as an important step towards strengthening the parliamentary relations between Pakistan and Russia.
The Prime Minister said that there is a wide potential of cooperation between Russia and Pakistan in various fields, which can be utilized to achieve the development goals of the people of both countries.
The Prime Minister further said in the meeting that the Pakistan-Russia Joint Commission meeting to be held in December 2024 will prove to be an important opportunity to expand cooperation between the two countries.
In the meeting, the strengthening of banking channels for the promotion of trade and investment between the two countries and the creation of a comprehensive road map for economy, trade and investment between Pakistan and Russia were also discussed.
At the beginning of this month, the Prime Minister welcomed the visit of a 70-member delegation of Pakistani businessmen led by the Minister of Communications to Russia and the participation in the Pakistan-Russia Trade and Investment Forum for the promotion of trade and investment between the two countries.
In the meeting, the Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes to Russian President Vladimir Putin and invited him to visit Pakistan soon.
