Islamabad: Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that there is no example of banning any party by the democratic government. The government has no power to ban any party.
Former Prime Minister and Awam Pakistan Party chief Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said in a press conference that allowing phone tapping by the government is a violation of the constitution and law.
He said that the government notification is against the constitution. Why was such a sensitive matter not brought to Parliament?
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the government has no authority to ban any party. The government wants to repeat the mistake made by the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The problem is that the mandate of the government is weak.
He said that Article 14 provides protection and Article 19 gives the right to freedom of expression. If Article 6 is applied, then it will apply to many people of the government. More than a year has passed since May 9 and the government has done nothing. People will say, why did the idea of ban come after the decision of the Supreme Court?
