Islamabad: No Official Information on US Travel Ban

Pakistan has officially stated that it has not received any formal communication regarding an alleged US travel ban. The Foreign Office has dismissed such reports as media speculations, asserting that there is no official confirmation of any such restrictions. The Foreign Office spokesperson, Shafqat Ali Khan, addressed the issue in his weekly press briefing, emphasizing that Pakistan maintains strong diplomatic ties with the United States across various sectors.

Pakistan-US Diplomatic Relations

During the briefing, Khan highlighted the importance of Pakistan’s relations with the United States, calling them “strong and multifaceted” and based on “decades of cooperation.” He further clarified that the recent meeting between the Foreign Office and the US Charge d’Affaires was a routine diplomatic engagement, not a response to any potential policy changes.

Referring to the speculated travel restrictions, Khan asserted that no official notification has been received by the Pakistani government, and such claims remain unverified. He reiterated that Pakistan continues to maintain positive relations with the United States, and any issues concerning visa matters are addressed through routine diplomatic channels.

Pakistan’s Policy on Israel Remains Unchanged

Responding to recent discussions about Pakistan’s stance on Israel, Khan unequivocally stated that there has been “no change in Pakistan’s policy towards Israel.” Pakistan has consistently maintained its position of supporting a two-state solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in line with international law and United Nations resolutions.

Khan clarified that social media reports claiming that some Pakistanis had visited Israel were not verified by the Foreign Office. He emphasized that Pakistan’s diplomatic stance remains unchanged and that it does not recognize Israel as a state. Pakistan has repeatedly condemned Israeli military actions in Gaza and other Palestinian territories, reaffirming its solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Pakistan Condemns Israeli Attacks on Gaza

The Foreign Office reiterated Pakistan’s condemnation of Israel’s continued attacks on Gaza, labeling them as violations of ceasefire agreements. Pakistan has consistently voiced its concerns regarding the humanitarian crisis in Palestine and called for an immediate halt to hostilities. The spokesperson reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and its advocacy for peace in the region.

Pakistan’s Missile and Defense Capabilities

Addressing concerns about Pakistan’s missile and defense strategy, Khan assured that the country’s missile capabilities are solely for national defense purposes. He stated that Pakistan’s defense systems are “strong and secure,” emphasizing the nation’s strategic focus on deterrence to maintain stability in the region. The spokesperson reiterated that Pakistan’s military advancements are designed to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Regional Tensions and Pakistan’s Stance

Khan also addressed the escalating situation in Yemen, where recent bombings in Sanaa and retaliatory actions by the Houthis have intensified regional tensions. He stated that Pakistan supports the peace process for Yemen and urges all parties involved to seek a diplomatic resolution to the conflict. Pakistan has consistently advocated for peace and stability in the Middle East and has called upon the international community to play an active role in mediating conflicts.

Border Security and Terrorism Concerns

Speaking on security concerns related to Afghanistan, the Foreign Office called upon the global community to take decisive action against terrorist safe havens operating from Afghan territory. Khan confirmed that the Torkham border was reopened recently, facilitating the resumption of foot traffic. He also clarified that Pakistan had demanded that Afghanistan refrain from constructing any unauthorized border posts, and this condition had been met before the reopening of the border.

Pakistan Criticizes India’s Kashmir Policy

During the press briefing, Khan strongly criticized the Indian leadership’s portrayal of Kashmir as a peaceful region. He rejected India’s claims and accused the Indian government of being responsible for the oppression and mass killings of Kashmiris. Pakistan has repeatedly called upon the international community to hold India accountable for human rights violations in Indian-administered Kashmir.

Fact-Finding Committee on Social Media Rumors

The spokesperson also addressed concerns about misinformation and rumors circulating on social media. He confirmed that a fact-finding committee had been established to investigate various allegations and ensure that accurate information is provided to the public. The committee aims to counter the spread of disinformation and uphold transparency in official communications.

Pakistan’s Role in International Organizations

Addressing Pakistan’s participation in international organizations, Khan clarified that the membership process for the BRICS Development Bank is distinct from the procedure for joining BRICS itself. Pakistan continues to engage with global economic institutions and explore opportunities for collaboration with emerging economies.

Concerns About Pakistani Nationals in Spain

Khan acknowledged reports regarding the arrest of Pakistani citizens in Spain. He stated that the Pakistani consulate in Spain is actively monitoring the situation and providing necessary assistance to affected individuals. The government remains committed to ensuring the welfare of its citizens abroad and engaging with foreign authorities to address any legal concerns.

Pakistan’s Call for Peace in Syria and Lebanon

Finally, Khan emphasized Pakistan’s stance on regional stability, particularly in Syria and Lebanon. He urged all parties involved in the conflicts to exercise restraint and seek peaceful solutions through diplomatic means. Pakistan has consistently supported efforts to maintain peace in conflict-ridden regions and has advocated for international cooperation in resolving crises.

Conclusion

Pakistan’s Foreign Office has firmly denied any official confirmation of a US travel ban and dismissed related media speculations. The government has reaffirmed its unchanged policy on Israel and continues to support the Palestinian cause. Additionally, Pakistan remains committed to maintaining strong diplomatic ties with the United States, ensuring national security through its defense strategy, and advocating for regional peace and stability. The Foreign Office has also taken steps to counter misinformation on social media and provide assistance to Pakistani nationals abroad. As tensions rise in various regions, Pakistan continues to call for diplomatic resolutions and global cooperation to address pressing international issues.
