The weekly rate of inflation was 1.28 percent, an increase of 23.59 percent on an annualized basis

ISLAMABAD: After a one-week decline in the country, the rate of inflation has started increasing again and recorded an increase of 1.28 percent on weekly basis and 23.59 percent on annual basis.

According to the ongoing weekly report on price sensitive index by the Federal Bureau of Statistics, in the week ending on July 4, the prices of 5 essential items of daily use in the country decreased and the prices of 17 remained stable.

During the recent week, the price of onion decreased by 9.05%, potato by 1.04%, egg by 0.79%, banana by 0.60% and bread by 0.02%.

Inflation data shows that the country has recorded an increase in the prices of 29 items in a week.

The prices of the commodities that have increased include tomato by 70.77%, flour by 10.57%, dry milk by 8.90%, diesel by 3.58%, petrol by 2.88%, pulses by 2.87%, dal by 2.86%, chicken by 2.40%, LPG 1.63%, garlic 1.54%, lentils 1.10% and sugar price increased 0.93%.

According to the Federal Bureau of Statistics, the price sensitive index for the group with the lowest income ie 17 thousand 732 rupees per month increased by 1.43%, from 17 thousand 733 rupees to 22 thousand 888 rupees, from 22 thousand 889 rupees to 29 thousand 517 rupees. The price sensitive index for groups having monthly income between Rs 29,518 to Rs 44,175 and above increased by 1.44%, 1.31%, 1.31% and 1.23% respectively.

The Consumer Price Sensitive Index (CPI) is calculated based on price fluctuations of 51 essential commodities in 50 markets of 17 major cities of the country.
