Islamabad: The Supreme Court annulled the decision of the single bench of the Lahore High Court on June 12, 2024 on the issue of Punjab Election Tribunals.
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Qazi Faiz Isa, while pronouncing the verdict in the case, also accepted the appeal of the Election Commission against the decision of the Lahore High Court.
In the court decision, it was said that when the conflict is between constitutional institutions, a cautious attitude should be adopted, the decision of the Lahore High Court cannot be presented in any forum as a judicial precedent.
A five-member larger bench of the Supreme Court issued a unanimous decision while Justice Jamal Khan Mandukhel and Justice Aqeel Abbasi also wrote additional notes agreeing with the decision.
