ISLAMABAD: The Senate has approved the bill for holding a peaceful procession in Islamabad, now it will be possible to hold a procession in Sanganjani or any other area of Islamabad where the government will give permission. Those involved can be jailed for up to three years.
Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani presided over a Senate meeting in which a bill was presented to hold a peaceful procession at a designated place in Islamabad.
PTI Senator Ali Zafar said that we are having a meeting in Islamabad, this law is being made to stop this meeting.
Senator Irfan Siddiqui said that this bill has nothing to do with any rally, we are not stopping any peaceful rally but we are facilitating it.
A clause-by-clause vote on the bill was held in the House, in which the bill was approved by majority vote.
Azam Nazir Tarar said that a place will be allocated, the media will also be there. Chairman Senate Yusuf Raza Gilani said that a place like Hyde Park should be made for the rally.
