Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif took a historic step for overseas Pakistanis.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif launched the Buna-Raast connectivity project in Islamabad. Under the project, the digital payment system of Pakistan is being directly linked to Bona established under the Arab Monetary Fund.
Under the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the implementation of a fast, effective and low-cost plan to send money to overseas Pakistanis has started. Linking Direct Initiative with Bona will facilitate quick, effective and low-cost remittances to millions of Pakistanis living in Arab countries.
The project will not only facilitate the transfer of funds for overseas Pakistanis but will also increase remittances. Under Bona-Rast connectivity, Pakistanis living in Arab countries will be able to easily send money to their loved ones digitally.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that this important initiative will further strengthen our historic ties with the Arab world in a modern digital way.
He said that the purpose of this historic initiative is to facilitate our fellow Pakistanis in the Arab world to send their money back to their homeland quickly.
Shahbaz Sharif pointed out that this is Pakistan’s first cross-border instant payment system that will make remittances more affordable and accessible.
Referring to the economic challenges, the Prime Minister said that he will announce a five-year domestic economic program soon. It has been discussed with stakeholders over the last several months. He said that the program would envisage measures for improvement of various sectors including economy and agriculture and IT.
