Karachi: The possibility of change of power in ICC is increasing, the decision of the successor of the current chairman Greg Barkley is expected in the next board meeting, the current secretary of BCCI Jay Shah is focused on the top seat, the next meeting of the council will be hosted by Bangladesh.
According to details, the annual meeting of the International Cricket Council was recently held in Sri Lanka in which many topics were discussed, especially the focus was on the promotion of women’s cricket.
The agenda of the meeting did not include the election of the new ICC chairman, Greg Barclay from New Zealand, who will serve from 2020, his term will end in November this year.
After returning home, Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan said while talking to the media that it has been confirmed that the next ICC board meeting will be held in Dhaka.
Nazmul Hasan added that it is likely that the new chairman will be elected in our country, I expect that this time the responsibility of the election will be given to us.
It should be remembered that the name of the current secretary of BCCI Jay Shah has been being considered for the new chairman for some time now, but he himself has not yet confirmed in this regard.
Jay Shah has been the BCCI secretary since 2019, the last term of his current post will end next year.
He will have to spend a cooling-off period of 3 years before assuming the new responsibility in the Indian board, so he will have to spend these 3 years as the ICC Chairman.
