Federal Energy Minister Sardar Owais Laghari challenged Jamaat-e-Islami leader Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman to a debate on the issue of Independent Power Producers (IPPs).
Talking to a private TV channel, he said that he is ready for an open debate with Hafiz Naeem on the issue of IPPs. Amir Jamaat-e-Islami also brought two or four engineers with him, I am ready for the Great Debate alone.
Owais Leghari said that highlighting the issue of IPPs is commendable but politics is not appropriate on it.
It should be noted that Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami has warned the government that the issue of IPPs may be approached by the Supreme Court. Who is telling the truth and who is lying, should be negotiated in front of the media, everything will come out.
He further said that we should be shown power purchase agreements so that milk becomes milk and water becomes water. Capacity charges of government owned IPPs will not be paid by public. The sit-in will not end until the contracts of the IPPs whose contracts have expired are terminated.
