Lahore: Chairman PCB and Wahab Riaz started growing apart. According to sources, instead of the senior manager and selector of the national team, the selector has become closer to Bilal Afzal Mohsin Naqvi.
Instead of the ex-pacer, most of the consultations are being done with the board chief Bilal Afzal on cricket issues. Wahab Riaz has not been made a part of any consultation process for a few weeks now, Bilal Afzal is at the forefront.
After the T20 World Cup, Wahab could not even meet Mohsin Naqvi, there is no possibility of it even for the next 2 weeks. According to sources, Wahab Riaz was in Lahore last week but could not be contacted due to the busyness of the board head. Mohsin Naqvi came to Pakistan, while Wahab Riaz is in England, his return will be by July 20.
Another selector, Abdul Razzaq, is also with Wahab in Birmingham these days for the Legends Cricket League. Wahab has submitted his report to the PCB regarding the poor performance of the team in the World Cup.
The meeting of the Board of Governors is being held in Lahore on Saturday, in which decisions will be made on the cricket team and other important issues. There are also possibilities that new faces will be brought forward in the team management as well. In the first phase, the team faces the challenge of a Test series against Bangladesh.
