Rahim Yar Khan: Polling for by-elections in Rahim Yar Khan Constituency NA 171 will be held today.
Due to the by-elections, today is a public holiday in Rahim Yar Khan district at the local level, while Section 144 has also been implemented.
This seat fell vacant after the death of former MNA Mumtaz Mustafa Advocate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf.
The polling process will start at 8 am and will continue till 5 pm. 2700 police personnel are on election duty for security.
5 lakh 26 thousand voters will exercise their right to vote in constituency NA 171, 301 total polling stations have been set up in the constituency, the Deputy Commissioner has also issued a public holiday notification today.
7 candidates from various parties including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Peoples Party are participating in the by-election.
A thorny contest is expected between PPP’s Makhdoom Tahir Rashiduddin and PTI’s Hasan Mustafa Advocate.
